Adverb Example sentences
What is an Adverb?
An adverb is a word that modifies or describes a verb, an adjective, or another adverb. Adverbs often tell us how something happens, when it happens, where it happens, or how much (to what extent). Many adverbs end in “-ly,” but not all adverbs follow this rule.
Types of Adverbs:
- Adverbs of Manner (how something happens): quickly, slowly, loudly
- Adverbs of Time (when something happens): now, yesterday, tomorrow
- Adverbs of Place (where something happens): here, there, everywhere
- Adverbs of Frequency (how often something happens): always, never, sometimes
- Adverbs of Degree (to what extent): very, too, quite
