Types of clauses
- Independent Clause: Expresses a complete thought and can stand alone as a sentence.
- Dependent Clause: Does not express a complete thought and relies on an independent clause to complete its meaning.
- Adjective Clause: Describes a noun or pronoun in the main clause.
- Adverb Clause: Modifies a verb, adjective, or adverb in the main clause by indicating time, place, cause, condition, manner, or contrast.
- Noun Clause: Functions as a noun within a sentence, acting as the subject, object, or complement of the main clause.
